A high voltage drama involving emotions,bonding and hatred.No, I am not describing the Rahman sound track nor the movie Rockstar. This drama entails the struggle of a bird to free itself from the clutches of human insanity. Every morning , the cheerful cries of the birds fill one with joy  as they go on with the daily humdrum of day to day activities.It is really an enlivening experience to watch them.And a rare bird sighting even makes your day. But today morning was different.Yes there were cries all around.But they were panic-stricken.Helpless cries.It was as if they were mourning something.We went outside to make some sense of the commotion.What we saw almost brought the horror of the news the day before come alive.A bird was caught with its wing entangled in the kite string that hung loose from an electric pole. Just done reading 'Mahashweta' by Sudha Murty.A seemingly subtle story with a deep underlying message.A young,beautiful girl and and a rich,handsome boy fall in love and get married.Suddenly she contracts Leukoderma,and the world changes for her.It is a story written with great passion and social bearing. It brings the inner turmoil of people inflicted with such misery.Which is inflicted not by the disease but by the society,which treats such people as outcasts. The plot of the love story is almost dream like a radiant,ravishingly beautiful girl.And a boy endowed with the riches of wealth and intelligence alike. They are inseparable like the peacock and the rain,the moon and the moon bird.And then what goes wrong that he abandons her,the society disowns her is worth finding out! And if you get a recently published hard copy of the book,the postscript that follows is equally bewitching.

Usually there is nothing to watch out for on a busy highway.Office goers,people stuffed into buses like cotton in pillows.Yes there are eye-catchers like road accidents but that's nothing one would hope to see.Today just like any other day as I was waiting for the TCS bus along with another associate I saw a huge vehicle just like the one used to ferry cars.This one was with the exception of iron bars and the words, 'Horse Ambulance' written in big bold letters. Now that I have uncovered the mystery of the ambulance sans siren you can relax! I was highly amused and so was the other lady with me.Never had we seen such a unique ambulance prior to this day!
