Decoding communication in the digital age

It was a lazy Thursday evening.I was chatting with a friend over watsapp.Shifted tabs to look for a smiley...The conversation was so engaging that I often resorted to using smileys. My smiley history ranged from puzzled to perplexed, smiling to blushing to rofling. Jinxed with some mischievous ones..Now if I have elicited the so what response from you..Just hold on. If you look at someone's watsapp smiley history(do it on your own accord, don't cite my article ;) ) you might notice an assorted range of smileys or memes or emoticons.Whatever! Don't they tell you something.Something about how the person is at heart or his inherent personality? No? Well,I have a friend who is a little childish at heart even short tempered sometimes.I observed that while chatting with her she resorted to using smileys that forayed the gray shades of emotions.Angry-yellow with anger, red with anger.Irritated, frowning, sad et al. That gave me an interesting insight into her personality.

Decoding the gray cells

Another knowledge seeking lesson at the library. I start with a book I have been meaning to study. I do not literally start studying as I happen to cast a glare upon a insignificant seeming palm sized magazine. I am intrigued by the cover page and the title which reads 'The Human Brain' It's time to decipher the true engine of creation. The picture is very vivid too, half showing a walnut like image we always picture the brain to be like and the other half a PCB with a chip and an intricate network of connection. Truly there couldn't be a better way to depict the powerhouse of human bodies. Very true to the essence of the dictum,'A picture speaks a thousand words'. Now actually opening the leaflet a picture of the brain materializes before my eyes.Nothing out of the ordinary. A diagram with labelled parts and their functions, as we all have been doing for a majority of out school and college lives. Although I find a few areas I never knew existed.
